5.     Reports from Committees

TV committee

Ed DeCrosta presented findings and proposal of the committee to study the purchase of a new TV for the clubhouse.  He submitted a photograph showing how the TV could be placed on a shelf built over the piano in the corner.  (Proposal on file with the minutes appendix A).  The recommendation is to purchase the  61Ó Samsung from Bill Smith's for the approximate total of $2756.00.  A motion was made by Faye Froehlich and seconded by Marge Gotro to send a letter to the board for the purchase of the TV and the building of the shelf as proposed by the Committee.

6.     Old Business

Bocce Ball

At the last meeting Art Johnson requested that a leaf blower be purchased for use on the bocce ball court as well as the shuffleboard court.  The cost of the blower is $42 and an additional $8.00 for an extension cord, totaling around $50.00 A motion was made by Dennis Cannizzaro and seconded by Mickie Flanders to purchase the blower and extension cords for same.  The motion passed.

Pool Table

The board has voted to remove the pool table.  The results of the survey are as follows:

Marge Gotro stated that she read the board minutes which stated the board will dispose of the pool table.  Art Johnson stated he felt that activities should be provided for people with limited physical abilities.  Playing pool is one of those activities.  We are getting rid of the table, but because of cost will probably never purchase one again in the future.

Rummage Sale

The following notice regarding dates etc. for the rummage sale will be posted on the bulletin boards:

Last day for donations                 Sunday, February 25th

Do not leave items without contacting one of the following:

                        Mickie Flanders              415-3565

                        Joyce Blenkush                433-0119

                        Jan Booker                     466-3304

                        Donna Wasem                 432-1508

Bakers bring baked goods to clubhouse at 6 pm on Friday, March 2nd

Faye is in charge of ads and she wanted to know how long the ad should run in the paper.  Instead of having 5 days, it was decided to limit it to 3 days.  Dennis wanted to know about signs for the road.  Faye said we have the signs already and can use them.  Art suggested we put a sign up by Sweetbay entrance.
The signs will be placed out on the Tuesday before the rummage sale.

Lunch will be set up the same as last year.  Donuts and coffee had been sold at the shed and in the club house during the morning some years ago.  It was suggested that the same thing be done this year.

Jan Booker wanted to know if there is a pre-sale for residents.  A vote was taken for the pre-sale for crafts and bakery items.  Vote didn't carry.  No pre-sale this year.

Tickets for baskets can be given to building reps to be sold ahead of time.  Purchasers must come down and put them in the baskets.  Tickets can be placed in baskets around 6 pm on the Friday before the sale.

Cookbooks

Louise Cannizzaro submitted a check for $10.00 to the treasurer for the sale of cookbooks.

Bingo Board

Marge Groto gave a check from the bingo committee for $200 that reduces the debt to $600.00.  Dennis Cannizzaro will wire the bingo board on this Saturday. He explained how the wiring for the board will be done.

A discussion on whether or not to forgive the remainder of the debt ($600.00) to the Bingo Committee will be discussed at the next month's meeting after seeing how much it will cost to mount the board on the wall.

7.     New Business

Sponsors for Parties 2007-08

Welcome back party will be done by Inverness with the help of the Activities Committee.  Ed DeCrosta suggested we put up a list for all parties and then let people sign up.  This takes the burden off individual buildings, but still allows for people from any given building to help plan and work a party.  Put the list up on the bulletin board and then make up groups from them.   Sawgrass will do the Valentines party next year.  Not enough time for this year.  We also assume Mike Manfre will do the Thanksgiving feast.

At the next meeting, a Friday morning in March will be announced for reps to  pick their dates for their Pot luck dinners..

Grandma's Closet

Joyce Blenkush thanked all the people who helped with grandma's closet while she was away.

8.     Adjourn

Motion made by Faye Froehlich and seconded by Dennis Cannizzaro to adjourn the meeting.  The motion passed.  The meeting was adjourned at 5 pm by Betty Brice.

Next Meeting:  March 9, 2007 at 1:30 pm (right after mixed couples golf)

Respectfully submitted by:

Ed DeCrosta

Appendix A – TV Proposal

                   Golfview Activities Committee Report

                        Submitted by Ed DeCrosta

Proposed placement and view of new TV.

The Activities committee was given the task of studying the purchase and placement of a new TV for the clubhouse.  The funding would come from existing moneys in the activities account or would come from money raised at the upcoming Rummage Sale. The following plan is hereby submitted for the activities committee consideration.  If approved, plan should be given to Board of Governors for purchase.

Build a Shelf in the corner, over the piano.

Build a smaller shelf under that one for DVD-VCR combo player.

Run cable over door frame and up the wall behind the TV.
