Reports
from Committees
Tennis
Kay Flatten is the
new Tennis coordinator for Golfview.
Ron Risting reported for Kay Flatten. Kay
submitted a three page written report on the tennis
programs at Golfview. The letter
is on record with the secretary.
The following is a summary of the three pages.
There are two levels
of tennis play at Golfview. The
first level of players play under the lights on Monday evenings, at 6
pm.
Level two players
practice drills and have rallies on Monday mornings at 8 am.
Pickleball
development is new at Golfview.
The game is slower than tennis and the court is smaller. Pickleball can be played by players of
both levels. Kay has donated the
Pickleball sets. Harry and Marilyn
Engnell stated they will purchase a second set when they return in
February.
All racquets,
Pickleball set and ball baskets are housed in the Bar BQ storage shed.
Entertainment
Books
Pat Hodor was not at
the meeting to report, but all the Entertainment Books have been sold. No additional books will be ordered
because of the reordering procedures.
Coffee and Donuts
Around 50 people
attended and all expenses have been covered. Raising
the price didn't seem to affect turnout.
Pancakes
Breakfasts
Betty Brice reported
she could not get in touch with the person who ran the pancake
breakfasts at
Golfview. Therefore, the pancake
breakfasts will not be held this year. It was suggested that Coffee and
Donuts
be held twice a month to replace the Pancake Breakfasts.
It was felt the extra time would hurt
the regular turnout for coffee and donuts, so there will only be one
Coffee and
Donuts breakfast each month.
Due to lack of
numbers donating to the Blood mobile, the blood mobile will not be here
this
year.
March Follies
Jan Booker requested
helpers to sign-up on their building bulletin boards.
Bocce Ball and
shuffle board
Art Johnson requested
the activities committee purchase a leaf blower and 150 foot extension
cord for
use on the bocce ball and shuffleboard courts. (Jim
Markusen made motion seconded by Marge McHugh to
purchase these items This is the
first reading of this motion). Jim
Markusen also recommended the blower could be used for the tennis
courts as
well.
Art also reported in
writing that Kay Hondo will be the new contact person for shuffleboard.

Old
Business
Pool Table
Discussion on whether
to get keep or remove the Pool Table will be left up to the board. Tom Duffey stated this item will be on
the next board meeting's agenda which will be held in a couple of weeks. Jim Markusen reminded the committee
that last fall, the activities committee suggested that a survey be
placed on
the building's bulletin boards as to whether people want to keep or
have the
pool table removed. A pool table
survey will be posted on the buildings and turned over to the board
before the
next board meeting to help the board make a discussion as to whether or
not the
pool table should be eliminated or remain.
Poker Table
Several members of
the committee stated that in talking to players at the different poker
games,
placing the tables on top of the card tables proposed no problem
whatsoever. They were sturdy and
didn't create any problems. No
motion was made regarding the purchasing of new Poker tables.
Farewell Party
No building has
stepped up to take on the responsibility of the Farewell Party. A suggestion was made to have the
Activities committee take over the party instead of having a building
responsible for the party this year.
The Activities committee agreed to take on the responsibility of
running
the party this year.
Rummage Sale etc.
There are many things
in the other building already for the rummage sale. Linens are being
kept in
this building due to the rodent problems in the storage building. Sign-up sheets are on BB.
Please sign-up to help out on different
committees.
Jan Booker reported
there are four or five baskets promised for the sale.
Faye needs help
with advertising. Tom Duffey volunteered
to help with advertising.
