5. Reports from Committees
Rememberance
Betty Brice reported Anne Duffey's concerns about the amount we spend on each individual for remembrance. At present we send flowers or make a donation in the person's name to a charity. It was suggested that we eliminate the flowers and only send a card and donation of $25.00 to the charity. Last year we spent approximately $726. 00 for remembrance. Holly O'Connor made a motion the remembrance committee forgo flowers and make a donation of $25.00 to the charity in the person's name. Margaret Stokes seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Farewell Party
This will be discussed at a later date and by the person's involved.
Tennis
Kay Flatten submitted a letter about the happenings in the tennis group. (See attached letter) In her letter she requested $126.50 for a plague and for 2006 season. In the discussion, Faye Froehlich said other groups (i.e. bocce ball, bridge, shuffle board, etc.) are not given trophies or awards by the activities committee. The activities committee doesn't want to set a precedent by purchasing this trophy. There was no further discussion and there seemed to be no interest in purchasing or financing trophies for Tennis.
6. Old Business
Bazaar
Betty Brice reported the Rummage Sale was a success and we made $5,184.99. Next meeting people should come with a wish list of how the money should be spent so we can then tell the board how we would like the money spent.
TV
Ed DeCrosta reported on
the new TV. A letter was sent to the board requesting that monies from
the
Activities Committee be spent on the purchase of a new TV per our last
meeting. The board met and approved the puchase. Dennis Catoe contacted
Mr. Wolf, who
will build the shelf in the clubhouse for the TV. Dennis Cannizzaro
will run
the cable and electrical needed for the TV. John Yanochko said that the
Super
Bowl Committee has plenty of cable on hand and we shouldn't have to
purchase
any cable.
It was also recommended
to Dennis Catoe to have Comcast upgrade service in the clubhouse to
high def
for free. Tom Duffey is pursuing this with Comcast and is hopeful that
we will
be able to work out something with them.
Once the shelf is installed and the wiring has been done, the TV will be purchased.
Bingo Loan
The following letter was submitted my Marge Gotro, Chairman of the Bingo Committee
The attendance at Bingo
this year
has been unusual. The past week we had 93. Many of these people are
Golfview
owners, and this is the main activity they enjoy. This activity is also
self
supporting. Faithful volunteers set up and run the activity.
The installation of the Bingo board cost the following. Dennis Cannizzaro and Dick Tither spent several hours on the electrical installation. Materials $66.87 They donated their time to the community, so I purchased a gift bottle of spirits for each one. $50.86.
If Bingo pays this cost
we will not
be able to meet our $200.00 commitment until later this month.
Thank you
Marge Gotro
Last month Faye Froehlich brought up the forgiveness of the $600 outstanding Bingo loan for the bingo board. Faye read Marge's letter. The activities committee would like to have someone from the bingo committee address the committee with regards to the forgiveness of this debt. It was also understood that according to Marge's letter, the payment would be paid later this month.
Parties
Betty Brice mentioned that anyone having any function at the clubhouse should remove all the trash. It should not be left in clubhouse after a party for the girls to throw away the next day. It is the responsibility of the people having the function to deposit the trash in the dumpster.
