Remembrance

It was stated that remembrance books have been kept for our observation regarding information on deceased. In 2007, there were 14 deaths and $350 was paid out in remembrances.

Follies

The follies were once again a success and showed a profit of $153. A motion was made by Janet Booker name and seconded by Tom Duffey to get an estimate of the cost of building a stage 12 foot by 12 foot for performances. Four 4 x 8 foot sections could be made and stored in one of the maintenances sheds.

Channel 95

Faye reminded everyone to contact her or Ed DeCrosta if you have any changes in Channel 95, to include starting dates, ending dates etc.

6.     Old Business

Bulletin Boards

Faye Froehlich reported that we are making progress in making the bulletin boards easier to read by better organizing posted information and removing outdated material. A reminder to all, please continue this effort.

Lottery Dates

All buildings participated in the sign-up for dates on Monday, March 17, 2008. All things were completed smoothly and quickly.

Check List for Kitchen

Faye reported that in the past, there has been items left in the refrigerator and kitchen that must be discarded by groups that come in later as well as messes in the refrigerator caused by leaky packages. To solve this problem, a CHECK LIST FOR USE OF CLUBHOUSE (see attached copy) has been completed. Each group using the clubhouse is asked to complete this form as they do their cleanup and security check. Pat Blood suggested that the north door should have a dead bolt as it is sometimes difficult to close. Dennis Billingham stated that he understood it is a violation of fire code to use a dead bolt and a panic bar is more acceptable. Tom Duffey reminded us security measures are currently being dealt with by the board.

Water Cooler

The new water cooler has been installed next to the rest rooms on the golf course and has been well received. Mention was made that another cooler may be needed at another time. No action was taken.

Clubhouse Calendar

Be sure to check with Dennis Catoe regarding entries on the calendar. Please notify Dennis and groups on either side of your scheduled event if you make changes, cancel, or anticipate potential conflicts.

7.     New Business

Farewell Party

Dee Halpin reported that progress is being in the planning process. Mike Manfre was asked to sell 50/50 tickets at this event. This has not been done in the past, but Mike graciously accepted to honor this request.

Pickle Ball

Kay Flatten and Ennis Billingham have sent a letter to the Activities Committee requesting that Pickle Ball be recognized as an activity here at Golfview. Dennis gave an overview of the game, participants, and current schedule. It was suggested that they work with the Tennis Committee on time, schedules to avoid potential conflicts. Motion made by Jo McKevitt and seconded by Betty Brice to recognize Pickle Ball as an on-going activity. Motion approved.

Special Events Entertainment

Faye briefly shared a letter she received from a musician/entertainer playing both keyboards and guitar., and the ability to sing in several languages. Gene Federico has also sent a "demo CD" demonstrating the quality and diversity of music he performs.  He can reached at:

            Welcome Back Party

People are still needed to volunteer to work on the Welcome Back Party. The party will be held on November 8, 2008.

Grandma's Closet

Joyce Blenkush reported on Grandma's Closet. She explained that $13.75 is needed for replacement items. Tom Duffey reminded us that we do not need to take action on requests for less than $50.00

Joyce not only wanted to thank those who have generously provided items to Grandma's Closet, but also to the four people who have assisted during summer and fall months. Joan Alberts, Donna Wasem, Betty Brice and Carol Pumper. In addition, this project has been so successful that they are now getting requests for items from families outside of Golfview. Art Johnson made a motion that was seconded by Betty Brice that items in Grandma's Closet be available only to Golfview families as this is a project that is sponsored by the activities committee. Motion approved.

Rummage Sale

Joyce Blenkush as whether or not the Activities Committee would be sponsoring a rummage sale next year. It was stated that a sale was not planned for next year. Betty Brice suggested that the Bocce Ball players may want to sponsor this event to help generate funds to assist in the development of a new court.
