5.     Reports from Committees

Welcome Back Party
Marge Gotro reported that we made a profit of $151.17.  Both Jan Booker and Marge Gotro said that we had a lot of food left over.  They have adjusted the shopping list for the Brunch to reflect what is needed for 100 guests.  This list was submitted for future use.  In their report they also suggested that the sandwiches be eliminated.

Channel 95
Ed DeCrosta reported that channel 95 is back on the air.  He thanked Faye for all her work on updating the information on each of the slides.  Ed and Faye will be contacting Jim Higgins for his ad on channel 95 along with other businesses in the area for possible ads.

AED Class
Faye Froehlich reported for Jim Markusen classes for AED will start when the replacement TV is purchased. The TV is needed for instructional purposes.

Blood Pressure Monitoring
Monitoring will Start on Monday, November 19th and continue on a weekly basis.

 Remembrance committee
Ann Duffey reported that there hasn't been anything new to report.

Hand and Foot
Connie Norstrem reported that about 12 people showed up to play the past two weeks.  It seems to be a success.  A bill for the cost of cards will be submitted to Mike for the cost of new cards for this activity.

Betty Brice brought up for discussion the replacement cost for cards for the different card groups.  She suggested that each group be responsible for the replacement cost for their card group.  She said that some groups do that now,  and other groups have collected money from members to cover start up cost such as the Photo Club and others.

After the discussion a motion was made by Betty Brice and seconded by Marge Gotro that the activities committee will fund the start up cost for card groups, but after that the group will be responsible for the replacement cost of cards.  The motion was approved.

It was suggested that each group come up with a way to collect money each time or as needed for the replacement of the cards.  It was also suggested that the groups be informed of this so they can come up with a plan for the replacement and not forced to when the replacements are needed in the future.

6.     Old Business

Tour Guide report by Jan Dorak

Faye said no one had contacted her to contact "tours with Helen." Faye suggested this be canceled.  Betty Brice suggested that we wait until January when more people are back to see if there is an interest or not.

Entertainment Book Sales

Flo Davis has been selling books until Pat Hodor returns.  Sales have been excellent.

Wish List Items

Jan Booker said no one has really made a decision about the curtain to cover the Bingo Board.  Margaret Stokes said that no one has complained because it hasn't been covered and we should just leave it as is.  However, it was mentioned that covering the board was one of the conditions for having the board mounted on the wall and people may just be waiting for it to be done.

Thanksgiving Party

Mike Manfre had a meeting Wednesday, November 14, 2007 for the upcoming Thanksgiving day dinner. He reported people have volunteered to cook and bring all the food needed for the party.  There are signs on the buildings for those interested in attending.  It's not too late to sign up.  The price is $5.00 per person.  Next Wednesday, (November 21st) at 2 pm, they will set up the tables for the dinner.  People attending should come and set up their table.

Newsletter

Betty Brice reported that the first issue of the newsletter will be in January.  If anyone has ideas or suggestions for an article, please let her know.

7.     New Business

Date for Next Meeting

Thursday,  January 17, 2008  at 4 pm

Paper Products

Jan Booker suggested that we purchase cases of paper products and then use them for all events.  Faye stated that long term storage can be a problem.  Betty Brice said that the boxes in the back room had silverfish in them.  Coffee cups are paid for by the association and not by the activities committee and are the only item purchased in bulk at this time.  It was felt after the discussion that each group purchase their own paper products with the exception of coffee cups.

Tai Chi martial Arts

The classes for Tai Chi, offered by Dr. Ron Kettering have been canceled at the rec center.  He would be willing to come to Golfview and run classes.  This class is a lot of stretching exercises, meditation etc. More information must be provided, cost, etc.  Marge Gotro will report back in January.

8.     Adjourn

Motion made by Donna Wasem  and seconded by Margaret Stokes to adjourn the meeting.  The motion passed.  The meeting was adjourned at 4:35 pm by Faye Froehlich.

Next Meeting:  Thursday,  January 17, 2008 at 4 pm
