Reports
from Committees
Photo
Club
Ed DeCrosta reported that the club
is
holding it's first meeting this Friday.
The theme will be "A touch of Yellow." Hopefully
the club will start having lesson come January,
once the new replacement TV is in place.
The program being used, is PhotoShop Elements.
This program is available for both PC and the MAC.
He
encouraged anyone who likes to take pictures to join or come to
lessons, even
if they don't want to be in the club.
The lessons are open to everyone in the community.
Remembrance
Ann
Duffey thanked Joyce English for filling in over the summer. She did a good job.
Coffee
and Donuts

They will start soon, but no exact date was set at this
meeting. A report was submitted for the finances of the activity for

Channel
95
Ed
DeCrosta thanked Faye for a job well done in getting Channel 95 up and
running
in October. She did an excellent
job of getting things going. Jim
Higgins will again be advertising with us at his usual donation. Committee chairpersons were reminded to
notify Ed or Faye of beginning dates for their activity.
They need to know so they can change
the information on 95.
Men's
Poker
Harley
reported that the poker group wants to run a Texas Hold-Em Poker
Tournament
during their regularly scheduled poker nights. The
tournament will be opened to anyone from golfview.
Residents should look to the BB for
more rules, regulations, etc. and dates for this tournament.
Tuesday
Social
Doing
well, don't need anything from activities committee.
Charge small $.25 fee and that helps cover all their
costs. Everyone enjoys the night
and they have great turnouts.
Bingo
Connie
Norstrem reported that Bingo will start on January 5, 2009. This is her first year and she's still
getting settled in, but stated that she has great help and all the
people who
volunteered last year are still on the list to help this year. She did say that if anyone would like
to join the volunteers, it only means working Bingo one night a month. If you're interested, please call her.
Pickle
Ball
Dennis
Billingham reported that they have around 20 people signed up to play
pickle
ball. Pickle ball will be on
Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7 pm.
Monday night is instruction night and Wednesday night is game
night. Pickle ball has submitted a
letter for changes to the tennis courts to allow for more pickle ball
playing
to the board. Dennis asked if the activities committee would help pay
for the
cost of these changes. Faye stated
that we can not commit to anything that has not been approved by the
board. Once the board has approved
this request, come back before the activities committee.
6.
Old
Business
Welcome
Back Party
The
party is scheduled for January 4, 2009.
There are only six people on the committee and more are needed. There was a suggestion that the party
be held a little later so people just getting back would have more
advance notice. The problem this year was
that it was
scheduled after all the dates for Pot Lucks etc where scheduled, thus
not
leaving any open dates later on.
Hopefully next year this will be taken care of.
Rummage
Sale (Bocce Ball)
At
the end of the last season, there was discussion for a rummage sale,
run by the
Bocce Ball players to help finance the redoing of the court. However at this time, the board is
going to pay for that project and rummage sale has been put on hold.
New
Water Fountain for Pool Area
Faye
suggested that we purchase a new water fountain for the pool area like
the one
added to the golf course last year.
A Motion made by Betty Brice and seconded by Irene Rizzo to purchase a new water fountain for
the pool area. The motion passed.
After discussion the committee would like to know the exact
price of the
water fountain.
Monetary
assistance for Clubhouse Lighting
Faye
suggested that we help with the cost of replacing the lights in the
ceiling of
the clubhouse so we don't have the ones that keep going out and then
back
on. This discussion was postponed
until more information on cost etc. was obtained from Dennis Catoe.
Replacement
for Wicker Chairs
Betty
Brice and Jan Booker said they would clean and replace seats in the
wicker
chairs in the clubhouse. The exact
cost was not known and they would report at a later meeting the cost of
this
project.
Newsletter
Ed
DeCrosta reminded the committee of Jim Brice's resignation from the
Newsletter. We are still looking
for someone to write the articles etc. for the Golfview Newsletter. Ed DeCrosta said he would still do the
layout, but not the writing etc.
If anyone is interested or has any ideas, please let Faye or Ed
know.

New
Business
Thanksgiving
Dinner (Mike Manfre)
Mike Manfre will be
heading up the Thanksgiving
Dinner again this year. This
dinner has been a success since it has been held and the attendance has
climbed
each year. The cost will still be
$5.00 per person again this year.
There will be flyers posted on the bulletin boards for those
interested. There will be a
meeting on Friday, November 21st for those who are going to
help.

Change
Meeting (Week and Time)
After discussion, the
time and day of the week for
the Activities Committee Meetings have been changed from Thursdays at 4
pm to a
Friday morning at 9 am.
Doers List
It was suggested that we
have a list of people in the
community who are willing to help tranport someone to shopping, doctors
appointments etc. because that person is unable to drive themselves. Look for more information regarding
this and look for the sign-up list.
8.
Adjourn
Motion
made by Margaret Stokes and seconded by Tom Duffey to adjourn the
meeting. The motion passed.
Faye Froehlich adjourned the meeting at
4:55 pm.
