5.     Reports from Committees

Welcome Back Party

Inverness and Turnberry are doing the party this year.  Joyce Blenkush reported that about 90 tickets have been sold to this point. Things are all set for the party this coming Sunday night.

Entertainment Books

Pat Hodor reported a profit of $144 so far.  She is going to order 20 more books.

4th of July

There was money returned from the 4th of July party.  A check was given to Mike for the amount of $97.76.

Cook Books

Louise reported that cook books are still for sale and that and an additional $30.00 worth have been sold.

6.     Old Business

Size of Notices:

Betty Brice reminded people that notices on the bulletin boards should be on a 1/2 sheet of paper if possible, instead of a full sheet of 8 x 10 paper. By doing this, it helps keeps things organized for each building.  A recommendation was made to put a date on certain items and take the notices down after a month.  If outside people put things up on the board, they should be taken down.

Channel 95 Equipment

Ed DeCrosta reported that so far this year the problems that we were experiencing with the computer for channel 95 have not happened (computer freezing).  Hopefully things will continue to work well.  Betty Brice reminded the committee that a total of $600.00 was approved to purchase a new computer if needed.

The computer being used was donated by Vince O'Connor and will be used until we have problems with it.  Ed also reported that we received a check from Jim Higgins in the amount of $900.00 for his advertising on Channel 95.  The check was turned over to Mike.  Ed and Faye are going to try and get a few other local businesses to advertise on the channel.  This added revenue can always be put to go use.

Rummage Sale

Betty Brice reported that chairpersons have been picked for the rummage sale.  The chairpersons will be posted in January and people will be able to volunteer for the committee they wish to serve on.

Donations for the rummage sale are now being accepted.

Ed Davis wanted to know if any plans have been made on how to spend the money made from the rummage sale.  As of this time no plans have been made.  Anyone with an idea may give them to your building rep.

7.     New Business

Thanksgiving

Mike Manfre reported  on the plans for the Thanksgiving Dinner.  There will be a meeting on November 15th for planning all the details of the dinner.

Christmas Program

Betty Brice reported that on Tuesday, December 12th between 7 – 8:30 pm there will be a Christmas Program in the Clubhouse. The entertainment will be a piano player. Jan Dorak and Pat Blood have been asked to help prepare for this because Betty and others will be gone on that date.

End of season party

Westchester and Glenn Abbey would like to retire from running the farewell party this year.  Please think about whether your building would like to help plan and run this party.

Remember When 2006-07 season

The script has been written and a copy given to Tom Duffey.  Other than that, everything is still in the planning stages.

Lee County Parks and Recreation

Holly O'Connor reported that the Lee County Parks and Recreation Department has Senior programs and activities at eh Wa-Ke Hatchee Recreation Center located on Bass Road.  This center is located near the new school on the right as you are going into the Lexington community.  There are many activities such as Table Tennis, Bridge Therapeutic Martial Arts for 55 and up, weight rooms, Volleyball, Pilates, Line Dancing and more. A newspaper with list of events and activities were given out to the building reps. You can join for $5.  This is a lifetime membership.  Some activities have an additional cost.

Pool Table

A letter from Ernie Paoletti regarding the pool table and purchasing a new gaming table was submitted.   The following is the letter:

If the committee agrees that this is a valid request, we ask that our chairperson write a letter to the Board of Governors for their consideration.

We suggest that the pool table in the meeting and activities room be sold because of its limited use and because it takes up so much needed space.  We further suggest that the money obtained from such sale be used to purchase a pedestal type gaming table which would provide a variety of uses for members and would give that room much needed space.

Members of the committee would be happy to discuss more details of this proposal with the Board of Governors at their convenience.

Thank you for your consideration of this proposal.

The cost of this table would be around $700.00.  It was mentioned that the activities committee approved the purchase of two new tables last year for same committee. Ed Davis stated the new tables haven't lasted one year.  He stated the legs are not working and new tables are needed.

It was suggested that a survey be taken in January (everyone will be back then) on whether or not they use the pool table.  Before we get rid of it, we need to know the amount of use.  It was also mentioned that it's hard to use the table with the Bingo Board in the way.  The whole issue of the back room, what to do with the items in it, where they should be placed and how to help the crowded condition, was of concern to everyone present.   We need to study what can help this room get in better shape and solve the problem of the Bingo Board.

A Motion was made by Faye and seconded by Holly to form a group to submit to the Board a design and proposal for the placement of the Bingo Board and Large TV on a wall in the club house. Faye and Marge Gotro will work on this problem.

Phone Directory for Golfview

The question was raised as to whether or not a new phone directory was going to be published this year.  If so, a few suggestions were  made to help improve the directory.  Some people stated they like the old format, because they didn't really know everyone's name, but new they lived in a certain building and could find their name easier.  Also that not being listed by building made it hard to know their address.

Holly wasn't sure if she and Vince were going to do the directory again this year.

8.     Adjourn

Motion made by Joyce Blenkush and seconded by Ed Davis to adjourn the meeting.  The motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 4:31 pm by Betty Brice.

Next Meeting:  Thursday, January 11, 2006 at 4 pm.

Respectfully submitted by:

Ed DeCrosta

Secretary
