There

Faye
Froehlich requested we purchase signs we can use over, year after year,
from a
sign company. We would purchase
signs for roads, a large banner and newspaper ad. Faye is asking for
approximately $400 for all of the above.
Signs have been put in local businesses advertising the Craft
Fair.
Motion by Jim Markusen to authorize the monies for advertising, motion
seconded
and carried unanimously.
Rummage
Sale (Betty Brice)

and people are needed to work on that day. At
the end of next week we will start to price items.
Bake
Sale (Kitty Nagy)
It
is requested that all ladies who are going to bake for the bake sale,
bring the
baked goods to the clubhouse on Friday around 5pm.
Items should include a note if bake goods have nuts, sugar
etc. in them.

Channel

Ed
DeCrosta reported that channel 95 is now operating.
Also he suggested that we approach Jim Higgins and other
realtors to see if we can generate some revenue from the sale of
advertising
space on channel 95. A Motion was
made by Donna Wasum and second by Jan Booker to get local realtors to
advertise
on channel 95. The motion was
approved.
Other
Committees
Newsletter (Jim
Brice)
The
newsletter will be going to the printer early next week.
The total cost is $80. Jim wanted
to thank Vince
O’Connor for creating the layout of the newsletter.
Bingo
Harley
Greenberg submitted his letter of resignation as chairperson of the
Golfview
Bingo Committee effective as of the end of the 2005 Bingo season. Harley read a letter he submitted to
Board of Governors with proposals for a new Bingo board and cabinet to
house
the board on the main wall in the clubhouse. (It
was also suggested that someone look into a device that
could run bingo on a TV or computer.)
Names for Harley’s replacement have been given to the Board of
Governors. No replacement has been
named as of this meeting.
Gardening
Committee (Jim Markusen)
Kay
Yanochko has taken over as chairman of the garden committee. Anyone who is interested in working
with this committee, please contact her.
CPR
masks (Jim Markusen).
Jim
Markusen reported that on February 3rd he will be attending
a course
for certification as an Instructor in AED/CPR (Automatic External
Defibrillation/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). If
he completes the course, he will be able to teach AED/CPR
through Lee County Emergency Services.
They would provide class material etc. for the course.
The
pocket CPR mask pouches (which can be carried on a key chain) have been
back-ordered. This expenditure has
been approved by the committee.
New
Committee Members
Art
Johnson will take over the duties as chairperson for bocce and
horseshoes. Trudi Aronica, from Pebble
Beach, is in
charge of the Book Club and Water Aerobics. Starting
times for both activities will be posted soon.
6. Old
Business
Holiday
Sing-along & Del Prado’s
(Holly O’Connor)
Holly
reported that the Holiday Sing-along made a $26.71 profit.
Another event, the Del Prados made an
$85 profit. There was a discussion
as to whether we should look for new talent and schedule new events. It was resolved that no new events be
scheduled this year.
Thanksgiving
Pot Luck (Mike Manfre)
Mike
was not in attendance, but those who were present at the Thanksgiving
dinner
said it was a giant success.
Committee
Report on Procedure for Reserving Clubhouse for Events
Vince
O’Connor reported (written report attached) that
after the committee
looked at the current system for reserving the clubhouse (1st
come,
1st served), and found that system to be unfair. The committee submitted a new plan for
signing up for dates for building functions (e.g., Pot Lucks). The activity committee has priority for
community-wide events (i.e. Valentine Party, St. Patrick’s, End of Year
Party etc). After those dates are
set, the buildings will select their dates, using a lottery-like system
to
ensure fairness; following that, other groups or individuals may book
any open
dates. Kitty Nagy made a
motion to accept the system and it was seconded by Jim Markusen. The motion was passed. The
system will go into effect this
coming year.
Pancake
Breakfast
The
breakfast made a profit of $154 for January’s pancake breakfast. Parking at the last breakfast was a
problem. A suggestion was made to
put up reusable “no parking” signs on the road for events such as
this. They can be used for other
events as needed.
Donuts
and Coffee
The
next coffee is on Feb 7t.h
7. New
Business
Expenditure
of Monies
Holly
O’Connor presented some ideas for expenditures of Activity Committee
monies and asked the committee to start thinking about this for the
next
meeting :
Shelf
for the microwave; close up the
window over the counter; a VCR/DVD combo for the clubhouse; a new large
screen,
wall-mounted TV. This TV could be
used for Bingo if they find a program that can be used on a TV.
Many
people have put out money for the craft fair. We
need to decide how to reimburse them for their costs.
Put together your receipts and give
them to Jan Booker. Tom Utz wants
to purchase some trays for his cork projects.
Nominating
Committee
Phyllis
Simmerman and Faye Froehlich are the Nominating Committee.
They will start forming a roster of
names for Activities Committee Board members and Building
Representatives. Holly O’Connor stated she
would
not run next year.
New

It
was suggested that we start a Dart or Dart Ball league.
It is under advisement.
