Minutes of the Meeting
Wednesday, November 19, 2003



1.    Call to Order
Holly O'Connor called the meeting to order at 3:00 PM.

2.    Attendance
The committee roster/sign-in sheet was passed around. 
Members present:  Corrine Ankers, Pat Blood, Jan Booker, Ann Cabral, Louise Cannizzaro, Jan Dorak, Faye Froehlich, Marge Gotro, Ellen Greenberg, Harley Greenberg, Pat Hodor, Mike Manfre, Marge McHugh, Kitty Nagy, Holly O'Connor, Vince O'Connor, Ernie Paoletti, Edna Ritchea, Irene Rizzo, Phyllis Simmerman, Margaret Stokes, and Kay Yanochko.

Changes:
Holly acknowledged Marge Gotro, Co-Chair for 2003-2004; Pat Hodor who is filling in for Jeanne Fabian as building representative from Muirfield; and Ellen Greenberg, new Building Rep for Sawgrass.

3.    Approval of Minutes
Faye Froehlich asked that the minutes of the October 30, 2003 be amended to show that she was in attendance.  Minutes of the October 30, 2003 meeting were approved as amended.

4.    Treasurer’s Report
Mike Manfre reported that the current balances are:  $67.30 in cash and $10,656.15 in Checking.
Additional money will be coming in through 50/50 drawings, parties, etc.

5.    Reports from Committees

    --  Craft and Bake Sale Report
Jan Booker gave the craft sale report.  Proceeds were $1,300 approximately.  Extra crafts were either donated to nursing homes or taken back by the people who made them.  A few things are left.  Contact Jan if you're interested.  Craft supplies may be taken back by those who donated them.

Kitty Nagy, thanked all who baked and all her helpers.  They sold everything.  Proceeds were $328.60.

Baskets:  Holly reported that 14 baskets were donated and the proceeds were $1,133.00

Total income from the day was $2726.55 at this time.  More may be coming in.

These monies were earmarked for the purchase of a PA system for the clubhouse and an AED (difibrilator) machine.  Holly asked for a motion to purchase a public address system for the clubhouse. 

Margaret Stokes moved that we purchase an amplifier and microphones for approximately $600.  Harley Greenberg seconded the motion.  In the discussion it was recommended that we also look at storage for the system.
Motion passed by unanimous voice vote.

Faye Froehlich moved that we purchase and AED machine for the community.  Louise Cannizzaro seconded the motion.
Motion passed by unanimous voice vote.

    --  Welcome Back Party Report
Marge Gotro reported on the Welcome Back Party.  They sold 119 tickets and made $36.68 profit.  She reported that everything went well.  Suggestions for future included calling it a welcome back cocktail party so people wouldn't expect a full dinner, getting mikes so that announcements could be heard, improving the food service by having a plan for moving people table by table to the food lines, increase the committee size to include:  menu planning/shopping, food service, setup, cleanup.

The discussion focused on needs for the kitchen which were to be included in plans for using the funds from last year's bazaar.  These included a new microwave for the kitchen, new sink, larger refrig., serving tongs and slotted spoons.

    --  Coffee/Donut Report
Ann Cabral reported on the season's first Coffee/Donuts:  They took in $62.50,  had $57.00 in expenses, and ended with a $5.50 profit.

    --  Remembrance Committee Report
Faye Froehlich reported that there have been six deaths among Golfview owners since April and two deaths of year-round renters.
The committee is looking for volunteers to replace the current committee who have been serving for two years.  We need to have a couple of year-round people.
Margaret Stokes said she will help.

Arman DeLisle ( a year-round renter in Turnberry) died this week of cancer.

    --  Entertainment Book Report
Kitty Nagy reported that  65 books have been sold so far. Those, plus the 5 free ones, results in a $540 total profit to date.

    --  Other Committee Reports
BINGO:  Harley Greenberg indicated that he has been BINGO Chair for 3 years now.  This is his last as chair.  He will still work with it, but he needs someone to step forward to take over for next year.

6.    Old Business

    --  Clubhouse Guidelines
A revised copy of the checklist was given to Dennis Catoe today. We are going back to the Board of Governors to try again to get their endorsement of these guidelines.

    --  Party Evaluations
Marge Gotro did a "dry run" on the party evaluations following the welcome back party.  She asked for volunteers to help refine the checklist.  They will start in January.  Jan Booker, Faye Froehlich, and
Ann Cabral volunteered to help.

    --  Bazaar Monies
Looking again at how to use Bazaar monies to improve the clubhouse kitchen, the committee identified the following items:
Purchase a new Microwave and shelf
Purchase broom/mop/dustpan and hooks to hang them on.
Develop a storage area/cabinet for plastic bags/bucket etc.
Buy utensils, cutting boards, cookie sheets
While these items can simply be purchased, we need some people to do the legwork and get prices on the bigger items:  Kitty and Kay will look at sinks.  Marge Gotro and Pat Hodor will look at refrigerators.

Virginia Smith asked if there was interest in having another quilt raffle next year.  The reaction was that we might have one in conjunction with a craft or bake sale.  More discussion will be needed.

    --  Other Old Business

Holly announced that a new calendar will be coming out soon.
Edna Ritchea indicated that bowling starts Jan 8.
Harley Greenberg announced that Bingo starts Jan 5th.


7.    New Business

    --  Red Hat Society
Irene Rizzo has been looking into how to start up a chapter here.  She indicated that we could just go ahead and start one, wear red hats, purple dresses, go out, and have a good time.  Watch for a flyer with additional information.

    --  Yearly Meeting Schedule
Holly indicated that our meetings on Wednesdays at 3:00 PM will be continued.  Meetings in 2004 will be held on:  January 14, February 11, March 10, and April 14.

    --  Talent Show
Harley Greenberg said that he knows nothing about talent but he was asked to chair a committee to plan a talent show.  He will post a notice seeking participation.  The show will be in March.

    --  Other New Business
Holly announced that there will be no caroling this year.  Instead, there will be a holiday program and sing-a-long  on Tuesday Dec 9, featuring Tommy O.  Tickets will go on sale at the clubhouse on Tuesday, November 25th at 5:00 PM.  If any tickets remain, they will be sold on Tuesday December 2, at 5:00 PM in the clubhouse.

    --  New calendar
New calendars will be distributed on or about December 1.  You must notify Holly or Vince if you want something included.

    --  New grill:
Ed Davis will head the grill group.  They're looking for one representative from each building.  Send names to Holly.  We'll be charging $5 per use to cover the costs of gas and cleaning supplies.

    --  Bocce Ball
Bert DiDonato is turning Bocce Ball over to Faye Froehlich,

8.    Adjourn
