$9256. There is $11,795 in the checking acount. We need to keep
$1,000 in the bank. We also have $127.59 in cash. With additional money
still coming in for this year, Mike estimated that the committee has about
$11,000 to spend on it's projects.
5. Reports from Committees
-- Valentine’s Day Dance Report
Mike Manfre reported for Ernie Paoletti: They reported
income of $626 and expenses of $584.50 leaving a profit $41.50. After
$80 from the 50/50, the net profit was $121.50.
-- Del Prados' Performance Report
Holly O'Connor reported that all 120 tickets were sold. This
resulted in a $110 profit based on 120 tickets at $3/ticket which generated
$360 income less $250 expenses (payment to the Del Prados).
Since there was room left after setting up 120 chairs, it was
pointed out that future shows could be planned for greater attendnce.
It was suggested that Dennis Catoe check the capacity of the room with the
fire marshal.
-- Coffee/Donut Report
Ann Cabral reported that with one coffee/donut event remaining,
they have cash on hand of $66.25.
-- Pancake Breakfast Report
Dick Hackley reported that Pancakes took in $222 in February
and $104 in March, leaving a profit of $507.50 for the season. Lots
of people are coming from neighboring communities, but not as many from Golfview.
The new schedule for 2004 is now developed and posted. The committee
thanked Dick and Doris for four years of coordinating the pancake breakfasts.
-- Upcoming St. Patrick’s Day Party
Leo Czarnik reported that they have distributed 12 tickets
per building. They have $711 in hand before expenses. Thirteen
tickets are still available and they are still waiting for some building
reports.
-- BINGO Report
Harley Greenberg reported on BINGO. He cited florida
statutes 849.0931 which requires that the net BINGO proceeds must be returned
to the players less any actual business expenses (i.e., items designed for
and essential to the operation, conduct and playing of bingo).
At this time they have $4,064 in the checking account and $69
in petty cash. They are looking to purchase a new electronic BINGO
machine for approximately $6034. This would be hung on the wall, concealed
when not in use by a curtain, and would be both simpler to use and easier
to set up.
Harley also indicated that a volunteer signup sheet has been
used to recruit 29 volunteers to work next year. He also indicated
that he would like to have a co-chair appointed for next year with a view
of taking over the following year.
-- Other Committee Reports
Gramma's Closet
Joyce Blenkush reported on "gramma's closet," a project to
loan out pieces of equipment for infants to 3yrs of age (e.g., booster chairs,
cribs, strollers, etc.) that she and Palma DeLuca are now in the process
of organizing. They are looking for a full time resident who can take
over when Joyce and Palma are not here. They need to get info out to
potential users/donors. Items are being stored in the maintenance building
(NE corner of property). Members suggested that the bug man be alerted
to spray the store room to lessen the likelihood of bug infestation in the
items.
Remembrance committee
Faye Froehlich reported that the committee provided a memorial
for Dick Frueh. The rememberance book is in the office for owners to
look at.
Bocce
Bert DiDonato reported that bocce is going well, but they
have only one set of balls and two courts. They need another set of balls
and about $25 for sealer to take care of the wood until next year.
Mike Manfre moved to approve purchase of a set of balls and paint if needed.
Jim Markusen seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously by a voice
vote.
6. Old Business
-- Handout: 2003/04 Party
Schedule
Holly distributed a new handout showing the 2003-2004 Party
Schecule. She indicated that we need to note that both Inverness and
St. Andrews are planning the St. Patrick's Day party.
-- Recommendation to Board of Governors Regarding
Bazaar Proceeds
Holly reported on Activities Committee priorities to the Board
of Governors at their last meeting. These included:
improve acoustics in clubhouse
replace ceiling fans/lights
purchase large outdoor gas grill
purchase appliances for kitchen
Members voiced need for a defibrillator (about $3,000) and
people who are trained in its use.
7. New Business
-- Kitchen & Table Cloth Inventory
Corrine Ankers will take inventory of clubhouse kitchen tools
and table cloths and will present her results in fall.
The matter of buying Olga Shea's table cloths was not considered
because no one was present with facts.
-- Craft Fair/Bake Sale -- Saturday,
November 15, 2003
Jan Booker is planning a holiday craft fair/bake sale for next
year. A meeting of interested participants will be held next Tuesday
at 3:00 PM.
-- Election of Officers for 2003-04 Season
Since the nominations committee had reported just one nominee
for each office and since there were no additional nominations, Howard Aschburner
moved to enter a unanimous ballot for the slate of officers. This was
seconded and approved by unanimous voice vote. New officers will take
over at the next meeting.
-- Other New Business
Holly reported that Jack Verdette had asked her to announce
that anyone with items for the newsletter should give them to Peg to be put
into the newsletter folder.

less than $40 each.
There will be an Activities Committee tray in the office where announcements/flyers/etc.
will be available.
