Looking for a name for the event. Jan mentioned that one of the suggestions she received was “Hookers Crafts” but she didn’t think that was such a good idea. Another suggestion was “HollyDaze”. Members were asked to come up with other suggestions by fall.
Quilt Raffle. Barbara Illies has volunteered to make a Swedish quilt to be raffled at the Fair.
Holiday Recipe Book. If we receive enough response, we will put together a recipe book, which we plan to sell, consisting of holiday cookie and candy recipes. Appetizer recipes are also welcome. E-mail your recipes to Holly O’Connor at <oconnoha@earthlink.net>, or mail to Holly at 14771 Hole In One Circle, #101 (hopefully the Post Office will forward it to Milwaukee).
Basket raffles Holly O’Connor suggested we raffle off about 5 theme baskets. And asked the committee to authorize $50.00 per basket from committee funds in order to put the baskets together. Discussion indicated that we have plenty of empty baskets on hand. Some of the themes mentioned were: Cheese and Wine basket; Holiday Baking basket; Child’s Basket. Once we decide on the themes, we can post them and suggest that maybe we can get some of the items donated by Golfviewers which will bring our cost down a bit.
Jim Markusen moved to allocate $250 to buy materials for baskets. Louise Cannizzaro seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Kay Yanochko mentioned purchasing kits to make small Christmas trees. She give that information to Jan Booker.

Mike Manfre moved and Kay Yanochko seconded the motion to reimburse Olga for the table cloths. Discussion commented that the reverse flannel-backed side could be good for playing cards. The motion passed by a show of hands, 22-2.-- Place mats
Holly O’Connor asked if anyone knew who belonged to the stack of blue fabric placemats in one of the closets. They have been used and were dirty. Betty Brice volunteered to take them home and wash them. Then we will decide what to do with them.
--Entertainment Books.New Business
Kitty Nagy received a notice from the company that sells Entertainment books saying that we can get a free book if we sign up by May. The Committee told her to proceed.
-- Clubhouse Guidelines.
Following some of the clubhouse events there have been a few cases where the Clubhouse has not been left in an acceptable condition. Recently the kitchen was left filthy and the people who planned to cook in the kitchen the following day had to spend quite a bit of time cleaning. After another event mustard was found on the floor and rug. Doors have been not been locked. Garbage has not been disposed of properly. Everyone who requests a key to use the clubhouse for a specific event is given a copy of the Guidelines. Apparently that is not working. When the Board initially approved the Guidelines, they did not think it necessary to also approve the Checklist of things to be done following the event. They said we were all adults and did not need a checklist. Holly plans to bring this to the Board at its next meeting. (A copy of the checklist is attached to these minutes.)
Corrine and Jerry Ankers will be taking an inventory of kitchen items.
-- Party Evaluations
Marge Gotro is working on a party evaluation form. This will be a brief critique of what worked, how much food was ordered, what was left over, etc. Marge will keep a “party file” providing historical records and guidance to organizers of future events.
-- New Activities for Next Year
Next fall we hope to start our own chapter of the Red Hat Society.
Over the summer give some thought to other activities we can offer to encourage more people to get involved in the Community events.
-- Musical Evenings
We will try to have some more musical evenings during January, February and March of next year. We might even try to have a talent show in March. Talk this up and let’s see what happens.
-- File for Life
Jim Markusen explained the File for Life, a Medical Info Form, which you keep on your refrigerator. In the case of a medical emergency, the medical team can refer to this form to quickly obtain your medical history, medications, etc. The File for Life is available during the Blood Pressure readings.
-- CPR/EAD
Jim Markusen reported that CPR is good, but EAD (External Automatic Defibrilltor) with training is a really important facet of being ready to help when someone keels over. The price of the equipment is coming down rapidly and training is available.
