2.
Review the Color Palette
The
committee looked at some new samples of color palettes in which a
“base” color was presented with two contrasting colors that could be
used as accent colors. The committee liked that idea and reviewed
the colors that had already been chosen and created three options that
buildings might use in deciding how they want to proceed to paint when
their time comes to repaint their exteriors. Each of the three
palettes were deemed to be compatible—that is, if a building chose a
base color and a neighboring building chose a base color that was from
a different palette, the two buildings would look good next to each
other.
3.
Discuss and Decide on Color Scheme Recommendations
New
graphics of our buildings (as they would look if painted with colors
from one of the three palettes) were examined. Bob Huelsman
reported that the person he had contacted from Pittsburgh Paints was
sending more such pictures.
The
committee discussed options for color schemes that the buildings might
be free to choose when deciding on their choices for repainting.
Among those discussed was using a base color for most or all of the
walls of the building and choosing an accent color from that palette to
paint the walls of the stair wells and elevator tower. The
building might also choose to paint the leading edges of the walkways
in that same accent color to bring the front of the building “together.”
More
graphics will be produced and included in the final report of the
committee.
4.
Next Steps
The
committee will produce a final report and transmit it to the Board of
Governors for review by the Architectural Review Committee (ARC).
The ARC will decide if the recommendations should be implemented or not.
If the ARC decides that the colors
are appropriate for Golfview buildings, the Board will notify building
associations of that decision and the building associations will have
to hold votes regarding the matter. A 2/3 majority will be needed
to decide on a color change.
Vince O’Connor indicated that he
would be resigning his post as chair of the committee, but will stay on
as a committee member.
Jean Benson was nominated as chair
and was unanimously elected to serve in that capacity. She will
be preparing the final report and conveying it to the Board of
Governors.

Adjourn
The
Meeting was adjourned at 2:10 PM.
