WHAT IS IT?
by Doris Hackley
It's cheap, in fact it's free. It's invaluable.
It's a simple, non-invasive, diagnostic tool... that can pick-up the
"silent-killer". Silent because you usually feel fine although your BP
is elevated and damage is being done.
It's convenient, located in
your clubhouse. It’s timely... twice a month, on the first and third Mondays from 11 am to 12 noon. Yes, it's the blood pressure screening available to all residents of Golfview. Just as one snow-flake doesn't make a blizzard, one elevated BP doesn't predict ill-health. Records are kept, over time, so you may show your doctor your readings. Prevention should be moderation in all things. Some, not all, might be salt sensitive. Watch your weight - less indulgence is best - and, of course, exercise is great. Questions I've been asked include - "My BP is down - can I stop taking my medication?" No, absolutely not! It is down
because you’re taking your medication. Your physician, as always,
makes these decisions.
