The
Divorce
It was the Tuesday before
Thanksgiving when the dad called his son in New York.
"Son, we've had it. We've been miserable for 45 years of
marriage. Your mother and I are getting a divorce."
The son protests, but says he'll call his sister in Chicago to get her
advice and not to do anything foolish in the meantime.
When the sister in Chicago hears about it, she immediately takes
control. She calls her father and begins to plead with him.
The dad says that there's nothing she can do. They've made up
their minds and divorce is the only option.
She shrieks at him not to do anything until she gets down there to
Florida. She and her brother will be down there the next day.
As he hangs up the phone, the dad looks at his wife and says, "OK, it's
set. They'll be down here tomorrow. That takes care of
Thanksgiving. Now what are you going to do to get them
down here for Christmas?"
