Inverness's America Flag

American Flag at Inverness
If you ever wondered why we have an American Flag hanging from the Inverness's 4th floor, read on and you will find out.

Fernando and Katherine Licopoli, PH9, have a son Alex who is serving in Iraq.  Fernado and Katherine asked Jack Hibbs if it would be ok to hang an American Flag from the center of our building to symbolize  their son's active duty in Iraq.  Jack, along with the board members ok'd the plan without hesitation.

Alex is a sergeant serving as a Medical Technician with the 399th Combat Surgical Hospital out of Taunton, MA.  He joined the Army Reserve in late 2004.  He is presently at Forward Operationg Base Al Asad, the largest military base in the Al Anbar province.  The base is home to some 15,000 troops most of whom are US marines.

Fernado and Kathrine are very proud of their son as they are of all the troops serving in the Armed Forces.
Below is a link to an article about Alex's training.

When Not to Throw Trash
down the Shute

When using the bins, make sure the trash dumpster isn't pulled outside in the parking lot
See pictures 1 on the left.  Check on Wednesdays to make sure that the dumpster is inside
then you can throw trash down the shute.

No Cardboard any day please down the shute.  Place cardboard cut-up down by the recycle bins.

 Trash Guidelines
  • Normal trash generated within the condo should be bagged in the standard 13 gallon white kitchen plastic trash bag with ties and tied securely before dumping. Bags with any foodstuffs that cannot be placed in the garbage disposal, should be double bagged and double tied securely.  These bags should then be dumped down the compactor chute found on each floor in the elevator area
  • Bags should not be dumped down the chute on Wednesday while the compactor hopper is outside the compactor room waiting to be emptied into the refuse company’s truck.  This is usually just a few hours during the middle of the day.  Also bags should not be dumped down the chute after 10 PM due to the compactor noise generated.
  • Residents should under no condition enter the compactor room on the ground floor and dump any garbage or trash bags into the compactor hopper.
  • Recyclables, newspapers, magazines, etc. should be placed in the properly marked hopper in the stairwell at either end of the building.  Newspapers go into the hopper marked as such, and plastics and glass bottles, along with metal tin cans go into the hopper marked as such.  These hoppers are emptied once a week by the refuse contractor.
  • Bags of refuse and garbage should not be placed into the recyclable hoppers under any condition
  • Other trash items in larger black plastic yard bags may be placed in the large container at the Golf Course Maintenance Building on the other side of Hole In 1 Circle.  Large furniture or appliance items may be placed in this area provided the refuse contractor has been called to make a special pick-up.  These items should normally be hauled away by the delivering and installing contractor at the time that they are replaced.  Thrift stores may also be called to pick-up these large items.
  • Cardboard boxes must be broken down flat before they are placed in the Recyclable Bin area. These boxes do not then need to be placed within one of the containers.  Larger boxes must also be broken down before placing them at the large container across the street.
  • Owners, renters, and guests who do not follow these rules and guidelines for trash removal could lose their Golfview  privileges for, but not limited to, golf and pool use.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.  Maintaining sanitary conditions is important to all of us.

This type of Garbage bag should be used, not shopping bags. (not recommending any brand by use of this picture)

Large bags like this  shouldn't be used at all.

Large Trash Items

The dumpster at the golf course building is suffering from abusive use.  (as seen in the picture on the left)  golfview pays for each additional load of debris that must be hauled away.
Please remember when you arrange for work in your unit and the contractor is not a Golfview resident, he is responsible for discarding materials at other than the Golfview dumpster.  When you arrange for work to be done, include an agreement for isposal of material or appliances off site.
If you leave an appliance at the dumpster site, call Veola Trash at 334-1224 and they will pick it up for recycling.  Please be a good neighbor.
