| To all our Golfview friends, I can't thank you enough for all your prayers and kind words that you have shown me and my family. All the work and food preparations at the club house just astounded us. We couldn't have done it without all of you. Mickey had just said to me that we were so fortunate to have found Golfview. He loved being here as it is such a great community with wonderful caring friends. Thank you all again for all your help and support. Love, Judy Harrison |

Thank You note from the family of Freddie Cruz. Golfview residents, staff and friends contributed $560 to assist his family in their time of need. |
| Hurricane
Shutters: Our shutters jammed at the halfway point. I called in 3 companies and got the same story. We needed a new motor – cost between $500 and $800 depending on the company. I noticed an ad in the Yellow Pages (not Yellowbook) for NOE REGRET SHUTTER CLEANING & SERVICE. I called and made an appointment with Johnny Noe. He came out the next day and checked the shutters. He said there was a connector that was jammed and bent, and he could fix it. He spent almost 3 hours removing not one but 2 broken connectors and straightening the louvers which were bent due to the broken connectors. He lubricated the shutters and tracks. When he was through the shutters are almost silent going up and down (never this quiet when first installed). His charge - $175.00. It’s not often I can recommend a tradesman here in Florida, but this guy is too good to ignore. If you need shutter repair and cleaning, I would gladly recommend “Noe Regret”. 239-561-8654 and e-mail at JohnNoe@comcast.net. Art Lyall Pebble Beach 201 |

| On Friday, September 16th, I
took a quick walk-around to see what was new around Golfview. |
I took the pictures below to share with those of you who are not down here to see for yourselves. |

Have you met Golfviews new
maintenance man? He's Tom Koehler (pictured at left). Tom is a longtime resident of Lee County and has an impressive list of work experiences in the area. Be sure to wave him down and introduce yourself when you see him keeping things in good working order. |

The Lakewood Blvd. medians have
been showing a lack of maintenance over the past several years. The picture at the left shows the medians looking north from the main entrance to Golfview. As you can see, the large palm trees need a good trimming and some of the smaller shrubs are either withering or becoming overgrown. |
![]() |
Last week a crew was working on
the trees in front of Lakewood Village. As you can see in the picture at the left, the workers did a nice job of trimming the palm trees. After this picture was taken, the crews returned and removed the large piles of clippings which can be seen in the center of the median. |

This is a time when many of the
trees and shrubs are in full blossom. Fall colors down here are
different from up north. |

The new furniture for the

chairs replaced the furniture that had been in use since fall of
2000. The new chairs have a fabric that is protected by a Dupont
chemical. If a spill occurs, users must be careful not to use
anything but plain water to ensure that no stain remains. Cornices for the windows and slider-doors to the pool area are being installed today and a picture will be added to this account as soon as it is available. Jeanne and Doug Sorensen, picture at
left, are long time renters at Golfview. As they started their
trek down here for the season, they had a harrowing experience on the
highway near Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Here is Jeanne's account: ---------------------------------------
We started driving to Florida at 6 AM Sunday (Jan. 2). We were on
Interstate 94 and Hwy 53 near Eau Claire, Wisconsin. It was 8
AM. Doug was driving in the left lane because he was passing a
vehicle. I was reading a pamphlet trying to figure out how to
change the time on the car clock. We were traveling 65 or 70 mph.
The car started jerking, I looked up and realized we were headed toward
some guard posts, by a deep ditch. I yelled"you are heading towards the
ditch." Doug did not answer, his head dropped onto the steering wheel.
I thought he was dead. I was in the seat belt. I grabbed the steering
wheel with my left hand. The car hit several posts. I had no way to get
to the brake. I reached over Doug and continued to turn the wheel to
the right. All I saw was debris on the windshield. As the car kept
hitting objects things were flying all over. How I managed to get
the car up to the road and on the shoulder in the right lane I will
never know. The wheel came off the left front as the car stopped. Doug
came to, and was very confused as to what happened. OnStar worked
and they had a state trooper by us in minutes, plus 2 ambulances, two
fire trucks, and police cars. They routed the traffic to the left lane.
Doug was taken by ambulance and they insisted I go in the other
ambulance, because my blood pressure was 200 over 100 something. They
said I could have a stroke. I was released today (Monday). The Doctors
said Doug's heart stopped beating while he was driving. When he was in
the hospital bed Doug's heart stopped beating three times. The Dr. put
in a temporary pace maker last night. Tonight a permanent pace maker
will replace the temp.I do not know if or when we will be able to go to Florida. Our car with 4000 miles on it is totaled. Doug can no longer drive long distances. Please keep Doug in your prayers. We will miss our Golfview friends!!! Love, Jeanne |
| In a post script to her message,
Jeanne has provided the following update: Our son drove to Eau Claire immediatly the day of the accident. He unloaded our demolished car. He put the luggage and the many things we take to Florida in his car. He stayed with us all day. He came back to hospital yesterday and took us home. Eau Claire is only a two hour drive from our house. Doug had a good night sleep last night. He took a tylenol with codeine. He did not wake up until 10 this morning. He is scared. told him the Dr. said the pacemaker will keep his heart's electrical system going just fine. My only problem was the extremly high blood pressure I had. We both came out of the accident without a scratch. I really believe our guardian angel was taking care of us, We thank God that our car did not hit or kill other people. Thanks to all the wonderful friends at Golfview who have e-mailed us. We love you!! This year would have been our 18th year at Golfview. Our address is: 2645 Morningside Rd. Long Lake, Mn. 55356 |
