Good News!!   Some of you may have been worried about the fate of A. Troll after hurricane Wilma severely damaged the "Troll" house.   You may remember that the troll was living in a palm tree near the tennis courts and St. Andrews.  Well, lo and behold, not only has the troll found new digs, but has taken a spouse as well.  It is now Mr. and Mrs. A. Troll and their beautiful new home is still in the same neighborhood but closer to the pools.  Grandchildren will be glad to hear that the Trolls still welcome mail from the little ones and have an even larger mail box on their new house.  Here are a couple of pictures of the new construction.

Click a picture to enlarge it in its own window.  Use your browser's "Back" button to return to this page.

Ever wonder how the temperatures in Fort Myers vary over the years on Christmas Day?  Channel 2's weather man posted a story showing the highs and lows for Fort Myers for the last 74 years.  It's pretty clear from the data why we decided to live in the Fort Myers area.  Click here to take a look at the data, and have a Very Merry Christmas.

Remember the tree that was leaning on Pebble Beach's awning after Wilma came through?  We're happy to report that some tender loving care and some good forestry have come together to save that tree.  Here's the "after" shot.  See the Wilma Pics to compare.

Prayers are needed for John and Myrna Leark (Augusta).  As you may remember John suffered from an inoperable brain tumor.
Over the past few months it doubled in size, and as a result has affected his memory and behavior.  He needs 24 hour care and
is in a nursing home.

Myrna has had some problems of her own which left her hospitalized for a couple of weeks.  She is now home and doing well.

Cards can be sent to Myrna at 20246 Island Estate Drive, Grosse Ile, MI  48138.

Well, the water on Lakewood receeded over the weekend, so you might want to head toward the beaches on Summerlin and see what's new.  Here are some shots of the new Zoomers fun park that is taking shape just northeast of Pine Ridge and Summerlin.

10/27/05
Lakewood Blvd is flooded!!

This picture was taken on Thursday, October 27 at 1PM.  Wilma  (the hurricane) came through here on Sunday.   The flooding continues around the corner to Gladiolus.  If you look closely, you can see an SUV raising rooster tails heading toward Sweet Bay.  Click on the picture to enlarge.

Yesterday evening, Ed and Kay Altemus (Inverness) had to be rescued by the fire department when their car went off the side of the road and stalled.  Water came in over the floorboards of their car.  This was reported in the News-Press and the story indicated that Ed was unable to determine where the road was because the water was so deep.

Colonial Pointe residents are using their emergency exit onto Lakewood to avoid the flood.  Any returning Golfview residents are urged to avoid this part of Lakewood and come in via the Summerlin Rd access.  Also, be aware that the little spur that used to allow access to Lakewood from the intersection of Summerlin Rd. and Gladiolus Dr. has been closed permanently due to construction of the "fly over" that is being constructed at this intersection.

Here is some good news from Margaret Stokes of Glen Abbey:

Wanted to tell you that yesterday, July 14th, Laura Kirk (Glen Abbey) and Jack McCormick were married.   No one new anything about it, until Sadie, Gordon and I were invited over last night.  The happy couple were beaming. It's nice to have some good news for Golfview to hear.

I am so very happy for Laura and Jack, they have known each other since before each was married.   Jack was Bill Kirk's best man when he married Laura.  (I think that’s right).

Relative to Hurricane Dennis:  we got this message and picture from Jim Markusen:

Our hurricane 'shutters' up and waiting.

Just a little wind and rain.  Dodged the bullet.
One globe blew off in front of the entrance - that's the only damage noted.

In an e-mail, Ulli & Susan Braun reported the following:
We had sad news yesterday. You remember Lou & Peg Capots, who have rented at
Golfview for a number of years including our condo for the last 3 years.

We are in contact with them all the time as they were both unwell.

Lou is now in a nursing home in their home town as Peg was unable to look after
him any more.

Peg was also in hospital with respiratory problems and we called her two occasions

As it was Peg's birthday yesterday we called her. We were not able to reach her,
then called her home number. Her son Danny answered the phone. He was just about
to call us to let us know that his mother had died at midday on her birthday.

Susan and I were shocked and still can't believe she has gone. Danny and the chaplain
were going to the nursing home to tell his father this terrible news.

We feel so sad for all the family as Lou has cancer and is terminal.

Memorial service will be held at 2.00p.m. on Tuesday July 5th at:-

Parkway Presbyterian Church,
l000 Yorkshire Road,
Winston-Salem, NC 27l06

Lou who is in a nursing home can be contacted at the following address:-

Rm# 408
5755 Shattalon Drive,
Winston-Salem, NC 27l05

Lou and Peg Capots posed for this picture at the Westchester Pot Luck dinner on January 8, 2005.

Lou is now in a nursing home and Peg passed away on her birthday last week.

Our sympathy goes out to Lou, his family, and their many friends.
