Tropical Storm Fay paid a visit to southwest Florida on August 18 and 19.  We prepared for a Category 1 hurricane, but Fay fizzled a bit--thank God.

Instead of very high winds, we got lots of much needed rain and a few gusts.  Here are some pictures from the morning of August 19th.

This image from the TV screen shows the radar image of Fay as she moved northeast, west of Bonita Springs.  Since it moved east of us, we did not experience the worst of the winds.  Oh, by the way, the US Women beat Italy in the volleyball match.
This picture shows the view early as you look across green number 3.
The rain is falling heavily but the wind was just gusty.

We took a walk around the circle around noon.  Above and right is the
only damage we observed.  Some soffit hanging loose on Pinehurst.

In these pictures Holly focused on the lake levels.

Above (and above right) were shots of the lake taken from between Glen Abbey and Pinehurst.  Note the birds in the picture above right.  Lots of egrets and ibis were having a great time.

Near the first tee>>>>>>>>>>>>

Lots of standing water.

I think we'll have to play lift, clean, and place today.

Dennis, Dave and Freddie did a nice job of preparing for the worst, as
you can see in these photos--screens down, furniture stowed.

Nobody was using the pools today, but we did find a big game of canasta in the clubhouse.
Nancy Markt came out to greet us as we passed Turnberry.  She said she wondered who the two crazies were.

Most residents will be happy to know that their car covers survived the storm well.  Two examples of those that did not fare as well are shown above and above right.

The example at the right>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
shows how a good quality cover, fastened only from below,
provide good protection, even when the winds get fierce.
