Two sections of the old trail are still closed. The westside trail and the old northside trail. The rest of the park is open and there
is a new north trail that goes beyond what used to be gates limiting access toward the area where the railroad cars are stored and
the seasonal train rides take passengers along scenic trails.
Holly and Donna check out the new views where a Malaluca forest once stood.
Some portions of the trail are sporting new asphalt.
While it looks like it is close to opening, the path along the west side of the park is still closed.
It looks like they will be adding new asphalt to the westside trail.
Also, there is a lot of construction activity in the property just west of the park along Summerlin Rd.
When we went north along the train tracks, we found that the trail has been extended past the old gates.
Along the north trail spur we had nice views of Reflection Lakes.
And we got to bike along the train tracks...
...to the train yard and beyond.
Donna and Holly are checking out the train yard after exploring the trail at least another quarter mile north.
At the right you can see one of the little "villages" that line the train tracks.
And we got up close and personal with the new construction (Riva Del Lago). It looks like these condos will
have a footbridge access to Lakes Park--which probably accounts for us getting access to the "back 40."
