On August 9, 2008, Holly and Vince O'Connor took a drive up to Seymour, Wisconsin to partake of the festivities held there every year to commemorate the Hamburger.

Tom and Ann Duffey have touted this event ever since we met them and we just had to see for ourselves.

The parade down Main Street was held in the morning after the balloon lift.  We missed the balloons, but got there just as the parade ended.

Seymour boasts a population of 3,200 (give or take) and we figure that there were 10,000 or more at the parade.

Here's Holly standing by the grill that was used to cook the world's largest hamburger.

Enlarge the picture and you'll see that it weighed 5,520 lbs and fed more than 13,000 people.

This earned Seymour a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Some of the early afternoon crowd, including a long line of folks waiting to get their fix of hamburgers.

You've heard of hot-dog eating contests, but in Seymour it's a hamburger eating contest.  The contestants were coming on stage, but Holly and Vince left quickly so as to avoid witnessing this portion of the spectacle.

We elected to visit with the Duffeys and have a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches.
